ITALIAN Serie A club AS Roma have defended their decision to give gold Rolex watches worth 25 million Lire to two referees as Christmas gifts.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport Daily yesterday reported that Roma had also given other, less precious, Rolex watches to 37 other referees.
In a front page comment by editor Candido Cannavo, the paper severely criticised the club, but said the referees were as much to blame for accepting the gifts.
But a spokesman for the club denied there was anything unusual about the Replica Chanel Handbags gesture, and said other clubs also sent gifts to referees.
"AS Roma notes that, considering this was a gesture of normal courtesy that was never questioned in previous years, it seems particularly unpleasant that the supposed scandal was exposed a month after the gifts were sent and in particular on the very eve of the Milan-Roma match."
Replica Balenciaga The gift row erupted as Roma President Franco Sensi was referred to a sports judge over outbursts made after Roma beat Bari 3-1 last Thursday.
Sensi claimed the yellow cards given to Antonio Carlos Zago and Alessandro Rinaldi which mean they will miss today's match Gucci Bags were not just coincidence.
"Against Milan, they never let us play with a full side. It's strange, we always get a couple of players stopped every time."
Milan are also without veteran midfielder Demetrio Albertini, who was sent off in Milan's 1-0 win over Piacenza on Thursday.
League President Franco Carrara described the gift-giving as "a very serious episode" but League Secretary Giorgio Marchetti said it would be up to the Football Federation to take action.
