A FORMER soldier who tried to make a citizen's arrest of a mugger has criticised the lack of a police response.
James Cole confronted the attacker in the middle of Swansea after he barged into the 53-year-old and tried to steal his wallet.
He said he reported the incident to police but there has been no response.
Mr Cole, who has worked on security projects in Iraq and Afghanistan since leaving the Army, said he was leaving Waterstone's bookshop on Oxford Street with his wife when he was targeted by a group of three men.
"One of them deliberately shoulder charged me," he said.
"I felt my wallet being pushed out of my jacket pocket, and just managed to grab it.

"He spat in my face and then I got a mouthful of abuse."
Rolex Fake The St Thomas man said he backed off from the altercation when he noticed the other two men in the group were moving in behind him.
Mr Cole said he then went to the Quadrant Shopping Centre and spoke to a security guard, who reported the incident to police on his behalf.
When no officers arrived, the former soldier said he then went to Swansea Central Station to try to see an officer, but after a fruitless 40-minute wait, he left.
He said: "I thought they might be busy, so after a while I went home. I assumed someone would at least telephone me -- but I've heard nothing since.
"I know officers are busy but there must be something wrong with the organisation of the police when you can't get to see an officer when you really need one.

A police spokesman said: "We are aware of this complaint, and there is an ongoing investigation.
"Numerous attempts have been made to contact this gentleman, all of which have proved negative. Police are appealing for anybody who witnessed the incident to come forward."
